The Goethe-Institut promotes the study of the German language in 98 countries around the world and encourages international cultural exchange and relations. The first Goethe-Institut in Southeast Asia was founded in Bangkok in 1960. The cultural exchange between Thailand and Germany is supported in different realms, including various events, festivals, exhibitions and an artist’s exchange.
In May 2016 the event hall of the house located near the central Lumphini Park was renovated and furnished with about 200 new Thonet chairs range S 160. The light, stained beech of the seat shells was selected to match the parquet floors. Partial upholstery in red and grey lend vitality and freshness to the space. Range S 160 by Delphin Design, which is characterised by its space saving stackability and a patented linking mechanism, was developed in 2010 especially for event venues and cafeterias. In Bangkok, versions S 162 PF with comfortable armrests are used.
