Beetschwester Restaurant in Münster

Green cuisine and sustainability down to the very last detail: the Beetschwester restaurant on Münster’s Tibusplatz serves vegan and vegetarian dishes with global influences and seasonal ingredients. The restaurant space with its large front windows was decorated by interior designer Nikola Bacher of nikogwendo, who paid special tribute to the restaurant’s concept in her design choices. The interior is based on use of natural materials with colour accents in green and blue hues. A particular highlight is the restaurant’s vibrant mural featuring an organic theme. When it came to choosing the right chairs, there were three important criteria: durability, comfort and the “Made in Germany” label. 

Thonet’s 118 range offered the perfect solution. Sebastian Herkner’s design is a classic wooden chair that lends an air of subtle elegance to every room without detracting from the other details. The seating offers maximum comfort and includes 11 bar chair designs with a backrest (118 H) and four classic variants with canework seats (118), all in natural beech. While the canework represents craftsmanship, tradition and coffee-house charm, it also sits perfectly in a modern space. The 118 chair’s frame, which is made of one piece of bent wood, is a nod to the 214, the archetypal Thonet design. By using minimal individual parts, the chair construction also embraces the modular principle developed by Michael Thonet in the mid-19th century. The 118 combines modern design and natural materials with more than 200 years of traditional craftsmanship. With its “Made in Germany” label, the design stands for everything that Beetschwester owner Regina von Westphalen and interior designer Nikola Bacher were looking for to complete the restaurant’s unique look.
