After almost two years of conversion and renovation work, the FIFA World Football Museum Zurich opened in February 2016 in the “Haus zur Enge”, an architectural icon of the 1970s built by Werner Stücheli. Alongside the exciting exhibits about the history of world football – including jerseys of all 209 FIFA member associations and the original World Cup trophy – an event and seminar area and three different restaurants can be found on a total floor space of 3,000 square metres.
The conference rooms MARACANÃ and WEMBLEY are perfectly fit for traditional meetings and workshops. They were furnished with the beautifully designed and diversified chair programme range S 160 in the sophisticated special version with cherry-coloured wooden armrests (S 162 PF). Thonet supplied a total of 224 chairs to the museum; they can be tightly stacked (up to 22 chairs) and are equipped with a connecting technique that allows easy, safe, space-saving and tool-free linking. In the restaurant area, interior designer Roger Bächtold from the Zurich office P.5 also used the chair S 162 PF, refining it in a special version with a vintage leather cover and smoke chrome-plated frame.
