Multifunctioneel centrum (MFC) De Borgh, Netherlands

The De Borgh multi-function conference centre in Budel/Netherlands is located not far from the city of Eindhoven and offers numerous facilities for hosting a variety of functions. With an auditorium, range of conference rooms and sports hall, the centre is a venue for temporary events as well as the permanent base for numerous clubs and organisations in the surrounding district of Budel. One of the centre’s highlights is its multi-functional auditorium, the “Prowise-zaal”. Thanks to flexible partitions, this hall can be separated into three different rooms and is also equipped with a state-of-the-art lighting and sound system. The space, covering approximately 550 square metres, also features a telescopic seating system.

The flexible seating in the “Prowise-zaal” includes around 400 Thonet chairs from the S 160 range designed by the Delphin Design studio. These can be stacked in next to no time to save space and they also feature an easy-to-use, ingenious row linking system developed and patented by Thonet. Specially developed for use in event venues, canteens and cosily designed spaces in the contract sector, the S 160 range meets all the requirements of modern event seating and, with its numerous upholstery options, allows for a wide range of designs.

In the MFC De Borgh, the upholstered version of the S 162 PF is used in three different colours, with a muted light grey, a vibrant dark blue and a subtle light blue cover fabric. Uniformly featuring a natural beech seat shell, tubular steel frame and black armrests, the chairs can be freely positioned throughout the room or arranged in groups. The three chair colours perfectly match the chairs mounted in the telescopic system, which provides additional seating when expanded.
