MEETING ROOM OF THE TOWN HALL IN MARKT SCHWABEN

Markt Schwaben, a community of almost 13,000 inhabitants, is located in the Alpine foreland. As part of the redesign of the local town hall, its impressive meeting room was equipped with a generous, custom-tailored table system and comfortable chairs made by Thonet. The interior design office Kressirer Ingenieure + Architekten decided to use a special custom-tailored version of the Thonet table system A 1700 Evo by Uwe Sommerlade for this redesign. The large conference table system arranged in an open rectangle provides an oak-veneered table top and offers room for around 30 meeting participants. The light wooden appearance of the tabletop visually establishes a distinctive contrast with the brick walls of the light-flooded room.

Thonet’s range A 1700 Evo was developed especially for the conferencing segment. It attractively meets the requirements of a modern working environment. In addition to innovative linking elements, the table system provides space for individualised media and communication equipment. The table in the town hall of Markt Schwaben includes several sophisticated features: The integrated microphones and small, retractable flat screens were enabled via discrete cut-outs in the tabletop. Veneered flip-up lids and the hidden cable guidance guarantee a uniform look. Other special features are the inlays in the table legs that reference the bleached oak on the table top, and the acrylic privacy screens, satin-finished on both sides, that add to the calm visual aesthetic.

In the meeting room, fully upholstered chairs with armrests model S 55 PVF are grouped around the centrally positioned table system. Thonet’s range S 55 is based on the construction principle of a cantilever chair and has a formally clear design, harmoniously integrating the chairs in the environment. Additionally, Thonet chairs range S 160 by Delphin Design in black are used in the town hall’s waiting area.
