Angel’s hotel is located on St. Wendel’s Fruchtmarkt in the heart of the city’s picturesque pedestrian zone. St. Wendel is a county town in north-east Saarland and is known for its historic connection to Duchess Louise of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, which is also reflected in the hotel. There are a total of 55 rooms, including the “Louisensuite.” Every room has been individually appointed, some with balconies, and thus each has its own personal charm. The restaurant “Louise,” which serves the finest regional and international dishes, and the “Louise Lounge” have also been named after the Duchess. In the spacious sauna, spa and wellness area, guests can relax and unwind during their stay.

16 Thonet armchairs were selected by interior designer Guido Angel to furnish the “Louise Lounge”. The compact lounge chair 809, created by design duo Formstelle, highlights the hotel’s modern ambience. The seating areas are complemented by the side tables 1808 and 1809 in different heights, which are also a part of the Thonet 808 range. With black tabletop and frame, the elegant furniture fits perfectly with the black varnish of the armchairs’ feet. This relaxing black and the upholstered grey seat shell harmonise with the dark natural wood floor, the wood-panelled bar and the light-coloured walls. At the same time, the chairs and tables create a lively contrast with the turquoise coloured accents scattered throughout the room. The 809 is characterised by the distinct shape of its seat and backrest shell that seems to envelop the person sitting in it and the comfortable, wavelike cushioned upholstery. Ergonomic and cleverly designed, the 809 swivel chair with its automatic return function encourages guests to linger and enjoy the hotel lobby.
