DINESEN
At the beginning of the millennium, British designer Anouska Hempel redesigned an extraordinary apartment in the centre of Copenhagen: large Douglas fir timber boards from the company Dinesen and furniture made of the same material created a harmonious and especially welcoming ambience. After the redesign of the apartment by the Danish family company into the “Dinesen Home”, passion and an expertise with wood, architecture, and design stand in the spotlight. The new showroom concept combines the past and future of the location with plenty of love for details: in addition to the long, wide timber boards as a dominant design element, the showroom was furnished with classics as well as a contemporary interior. For example, six white-varnished Thonet chairs 209 with armrests and wicker cane are grouped around the large dining table. Due to their aesthetic reduction and sculptural form, the bentwood classics perfectly fit in with the overall design concept. They contribute to the personal environment that is surrounded by something magical: as soon as you enter it, the noise from the outside world is forgotten and visitors feel the inspiring atmosphere in the space and the calming effect of the wood.
