Minimalistic and honest, at the same time elegant and fine: the 118 chair is a classic wooden chair that adds subtle elegance to any dining table or restaurant. The principle of reducing a chair to the fewest elements possible was introduced by Michael Thonet in the mid-19th century. The 118 chair is a continuation of this principle and, with a nod to the company's heritage, it takes it one step further. Sebastian Herkner added sophisticated details, which make the design less dominant and therefore even more distinguished. The shape of the chair’s legs is another special feature: rounded on the outer side, straight on the inner side – a design that alludes to the horseshoe shape of the seating surface. The bentwood seat frame and the handcrafted seat covered with canework refer to the 214, the archetype of a Thonet chair. The range has been expanded with the barstools 118 H. The newest member of this chair range is the 118 FV, an inviting armchair that offers even more room and comfort. This design was created by Sebastian Herkner specifically for fine dining settings and features a larger seat and wider, slightly more reclined backrest.
