Tubular steel icons for the perfect stay in hotel rooms and serviced apartments

Hotel chain HOtello welcomes guests from around the world to its two locations in Munich. Both the HOtello 09 and HOtello B01 boutique hotels focus on creating the perfect setting for a pleasant stay, with sophisticated interior design that shows off a real eye for detail. The designers chose to furnish the rooms with Thonet’s iconic tubular steel pieces.

The comfortable S 411 armchair offers the perfect spot for guests to take the weight off their feet after a day exploring the Bavarian capital. Thanks to its high quality sprung upholstery, this chair combines the utmost in comfort with the slender form and pleasing give of the renowned tubular steel frame. The piece’s timeless aesthetic is a perfect match for elegant hotel rooms.

The chair’s sweeping lines are complemented by the pared-back design of the S 285/0 tubular steel desk, the dimensions of which have been specially adapted to the requirements of the hotel. A slimline wooden desktop sits harmoniously atop the frame of bent tubular steel. The desk’s compact dimensions make it an ideal choice for hotel rooms, as it takes a minimum of space without losing any of its usefulness. Even though the desk now has just half the depth of the standard piece, there is still room for the S 32 chair to tuck neatly in place, too.

 This iconic classic is a particularly versatile model and one of the best-loved Thonet tubular steel designs.  Its popularity can be attributed to the combination of seemingly opposing elements, Thonet’s expertise in manufacturing of bentwood furniture with airy Viennese canework contrasting with the revolutionary use of shiny tubular steel. The solid wood seat and canework backrest embody tradition, while the frame represents the present and the future. 

It is a design icon that also features in another HOtello Group project: The HApato serviced apartments give long-stay guests a ‘home away from home’ feeling. Furnished with every conceivable business and domestic comfort, the serviced apartments offer a temporary home in the Schwabing district of Munich. BelForm, whose team was responsible for the concept, interior design and finish of the long-stay apartments, also selected the Thonet S 32 cantilever chair. “Thonet’s cantilever chair is a classic that lends a special touch to the homely feel of the apartments”,.Chief Executive Benjamin Oeckl explained. “The piece is a perfect fit for the HApato apartment design concept: timeless, high quality and contemporary all at once.”
