Historic charm meets contemporary furniture design: Café in La Rochelle furnished with Thonet chairs designed by Stefan Diez.
90 chairs from the wooden chair program 404 (Stefan Diez, 2007) have been in use at the "Café de la Paix" in La Rochelle, France since last spring. The complete redesign of the café was a good time to select new furniture. The historic café with its oversized mirrors and impressive Belle Époque style ceiling frescos serves as an exciting backdrop for the contemporary andunpretentious Thonet chairs designed by Stefan Diez. Valérie Bigot and Valérie Laurant, local interior designers, developed the interior design concept in collaboration with the team of Access Aménagement. The duo created an effective contrast to the lavish interior of the café, which originally opened in 1793 as "Café Militaire", by selecting the wooden Thonet chairs with their reduced design in a black lacquered version, half of them with upholstery. Thechair 404 by Stefan Diez is perfectly suited for use in the catering sector due to its high seating comfort and low weight.
