Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians

Thonet features in new extension to the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians headquarters in Schleswig-Holstein

With its new extension in Bad Segeberg, the Schleswig-Holstein Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians has created a modern conference venue with a plenary hall that can accommodate up to 120 delegates. The newbuild, designed by the architects from Riemann Gesellschaft von Architekten in Lübeck, features an elegant natural stone façade that blends in seamlessly with the pre-existing structure. The plenary hall has meeting rooms on either side, with administrative offices directly above it. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the hall with daylight, accentuating the structure of the wood panelling on the walls and ceiling.

The interior design is based around the tables: Thonet’s A 1700 Evo range, which has been specially developed for meetings and conferences. It features innovative media technology and as well as being aesthetically pleasing also meets all the technical requirements of a modern workspace. The A 1700 Evo is suited for fixed table configurations that are custom-made to fit the room dimensions as well as for multi-use spaces, since the tables can be easily set up and taken down without tools. A wide variety of different configurations can be created from the individual standard elements in this range. For this project, the planners selected a version with circular elements in a Noce naturale veneer, complete with wooden privacy screens, aluminium legs, connectors, media modules and cable routing in the table legs. The same version was used for the podium, here with a rectangular tabletop.

Two Thonet models were also selected for the plenary hall seating: 60 of the S 16 ST cantilever chairs and 120 of the S 361 PFST chairs. Both models have a chrome-plated frame, a beech wood seat and backrest, and a black-olive-grey fabric cover. Designed by Glen Oliver Löw, the S 61 ST is a contemporary version of the classic cantilever chair, whose seat shell is seamlessly connected to the tubular steel frame through the armrests. Grooves in the backrest create space for temperature regulation and visual structure. The armrests are covered in a soft plastic and taper towards the back, where they are connected to the seat shell. The diameter of the tubular steel has been kept to a minimum to give the chair a light, elegant feel with clean lines.

Also specially designed for the contract sector, the S 361 PFST is the perfect choice for event seating: it is stackable, linkable, easy to clean and exceptionally comfortable. Thanks to a smart row linking system (Thonet patent) the chairs can be connected without any additional pieces or parts. Tabletop carts and chair trolleys are also available to easily move the furniture, so it can be used in a variety of configurations within the space.
