This project led to a book that illustrates the graphic design of the Thonet brand for the first time and shows the development of the graphic of this brand in connection with cultural and political changes over a period of 200 years. The last chapter covers a central question of the introductory text » Thonet today? «. Designers and product designers sent greetings on the occasion of Thonet‘s upcoming 200th birthday and thus commented on the importance of the company these days. Rolf Fehlbaum, Dr. Klaus Klemp, Laurent Lacour, Nils Holger Moormann, Fidel Peugeot, Erik Spiekermann, Andreas Uebele and Peter Zizka sent a greeting in graphic or text form. These greetings made a special conclusion of the project possible.
The book won the design prize of the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences. In February 2017 this project was awarded by an independent, external jury. Saskia Diez, Peter Ippolito and Lamm & Kirch formed the jury and awarded the prize for an » extremely precise, extremely lovingly implemented book « (graphic agency Lamm & Kirch).
