After studying Industrial Design at FH Joanneum in Graz, he started his career at Audi Design in Ingolstadt. Later on he moved to the Netherlands to work as a product designer at Philips Design. For the past 20 years, Frank Rettenbacher has led an international team there as Creative Director, overseeing the design of all Philips TV and audio products. In parallel, he founded his own design studio in 2013 and has since realized designs in collaboration with the renowned Italian furniture manufacturer Zanotta.
His work has been recognized with numerous design awards, including the iF Gold Award, the Red Dot Best of the Best Award, and the Dutch Design Award. The glass TV 'DesignLine' he designed for Philips has been included in the permanent collection of the Amsterdam Museum of Modern Art (Het Stedelijk Museum). In addition to his work as a designer, Frank Rettenbacher also composes music as a cellist and recently released his debut album 'Morba', a fusion of classical and electronic music, together with Dutch producer and DJ Bardo Camp.
